Authors: Terry and  Peg  Chatfield McCarty,  in Georgetown, Texas  Not until retirement did the McCartys set aside vital time to properly address the 116+ Civil War letters that they had carefully safeguarded for over four decades, wonderfully descriptive letters penned home by Private Edward Livingston Chatfield of the 113th Illinois Volunteers, Company "B" -- a relative. Both Terry and Peg hold Master's degrees in the social sciences, human behavior--history their strong interests, the letters a banquet feast to be savored and enjoyed. Terry assumed the role of principal author;  Peg, the coauthor editor, and their two very busy adult-children, Kim and Dave, somehow found the time to carefully read the copy and nudge significant improvements. After publishing their book in 2009, Terry and Peg have  circled the nation multiple times on speaking tours sharing their experiences when writing the book.
