April 7, 1880: County Affairs -- The bond of E.L. Chatfield as road overseer of Platte district, with N.S. Chatfield and Shellabarger as sureties, was approved. (Littleton Independent)

October 17, 1891: Ordinance No. 36 -- AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO EDWARD L. CHATFIELD A FRANCHISE TO LAY WATER PIPES IN THE STREETS OF LITTLETON, AND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF WATER WORKS IN SAID TOWN. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Littleton. Section 1. The right and privilege of maintaining and operating water works within the Town of Littleton, and all extensions thereof, and of laying down, continuing and maintaining water pipes, valves, hydrants and other apparatus for the conveyance and distribution of water in, upon, along, and through any and all of the streets, alleys, lanes and public places within the Town of Littleton is hereby granted to Edward L. Chatfield, his executors, administrators and assigns, for a period of twenty-five (25) years to such extent as the Town may lawfully grant the same. (Littleton Independent)

May 14, 1892: Mr. Ed. Chatfield is doing considerable work on W.A. Herrick's ranch, putting in fruit trees and fixing up generally. (Littleton Independent)

May 14, 1892: Littleton Board of Trade
-- A special meeting of the Littleton Board of Trade will be held at the Town Hall Thursday, May 19th, 7:30 P.M. [Notice lists a membership of 50 townspeople, including J.H. Chatfield, E.L. Chatfield, and I.N. Chatfield] (Littleton Independent)

June 4, 1892: E.L. Chatfield
received notice from Washington that his pension had been granted. This includes back pay. The matter has been running for a number of years.* (Littleton Independent)
